Optimization of an α-aminonaphthylmethylphosphonic acid inhibitor of purple acid phosphatase using rational structure-based design approaches
2023, European Journal of Medicinal ChemistryThe small chemical enzyme inhibitor 5-phenylnicotinic acid/CD13 inhibits cell migration and invasion of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase/ACP5-overexpressing MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells
2015, Experimental Cell ResearchCitation Excerpt :Due to its suggested involvement in the pathogenesis of osteoporosis and cancer, TRAP has gained attraction as a potential drug target. Indirectly, TRAP activity can be reduced by neutralising the protein with the use of antibodies [27] or by applying RNA interference [25]. However, selective inhibition of TRAP using small chemical inhibitors would provide not only a tool to study the TRAP-mediated effects in pathologies such as cancer, but would also open up possibilities for potential therapeutic strategies that encompass a modulation of TRAP activity.

2008, Human PathologyCitation Excerpt :This observation may suggest a role of epithelial-mesenchymal interactions in the regulation of bone resorption. Receptor activator of nuclear factor-kappa B ligand is a critical activator of osteoclast differentiation and plays a pivotal role in TRAP gene expression, which is functionally implicated in osteoclastic bone resorption [30,31]. Because TRAP expression is barely detectable in osteoclast precursors, but its expression is dramatically increased during osteoclast differentiation [32], the strong labeling of mononucleated cells in inverted papilloma mesenchyme indicated the presence of factors stimulating TRAP expression by monocytes in the tumor environment.
