2019, European Journal of Medicinal ChemistryCitation Excerpt :In addition to melanin biosynthesis, tyrosinase is also involved in the defensive and developmental functions of the pests [20,21]. Excessive dopaquinone produced by the catalysis of tyrosinase has been reported to cause the neurodegeneration associated with Parkinson's disease in the brain [22–26]. Therefore, suitable new tyrosinase inhibitors might be applied to pesticides with a novel mode of action and medications associated with neuronal damages.
