2021, Algal ResearchCitation Excerpt :In every advanced living organism, there lies a crucial mechanism of eliminating unwanted individual and dead cells that turn non-functional or are not anymore needed by the systems. Such natural physiological operations within the body, happening as regulated cell death, without reducing any inflammatory reactions is accomplished by apoptosis through various cell death pathways [1,2]. Apoptosis, a benevolent death process in eukaryotes, is much required for maintaining tissue homeostasis, developmental processes, renewal of cells, and a perfect life cycle [2,3].
Tracking cell apoptosis based on mitochondria and cell membrane imaging
2021, Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology A: ChemistryCitation Excerpt :Under normal physiological conditions, the body could eliminate abnormally developed and aging cells through apoptosis. During the process of apoptosis, there was no leakage of cell contents, so it did not cause inflammation in surrounding tissues [2]. However, abnormal and excessive apoptosis usually loss of function in many tissues and organs, and could lead to a variety of fatal diseases, such as cancer [3–6].
